I use LinkedIn to marketing my offline business. I use it to generate leads for sales. It's my favorite social networking site. I'm a very active participate in group in my niche. I go out of my way to answer questions. It does take time and patience, but it's well worth it if you can reach your niche through LinkedIn.

It's not appropriate for all niches, but my target market are self-employed individuals, professionals and small business owners.

Promoting business through Linkedin is not as easy as it is in Facebook or Twitter. It is also very hard to create fake profiles or to mass add other people in Linkedin.

I haven't at all. I know that some people have a lot of success with it, but it's just not the right atmosphere for here. I think that it's better for professionals who want to connect with other professionals, especially if they already have a lot of offline contacts as well.

Usually people market their posts by posting in relevant LinkedIn groups, and then sell from their posts. LinedIn is kind of a bridge between the consumer and where the product is advertised.

I have a profile set up but I haven't spent much time figuring out to use it effectively. I don't know if it is the best network for my niche, but I definitely need to look into it more and figure it out. But so far my connections are just people from high school & college.

I always figured Linkedin was little more than a site for potential employers and potential employees to network.

How do you use it to generate sales?

I have a linkedin account but dont aggressively go after contacts. I am finding that more and more people are requesting me to add them. But like other sites its all the same to me , they request me to add them then they do not even introduce themselves.

To me it doesnt make sense to ask someone to add if they are not even going to attempt to communicate with me. The last time I checked it was about establishing relationships with your friends and with your customers.

There are so many forms at this point that it is hard to keep up with all of them so at this point I going to concentrate on organic website traffic hopefully to attract targeted visitors.

When I got around 500+ connections in linkedin I suddenly got spam messages everyday so maybe its really worth marketing in linkedin. Some people actually use linkedin groups to market their businesses and the way to do this is by joining groups with same interest.

I have heard on it and checked it out when I was trying to find someone, but I don't have it. I don't like it.
